Tiny house project-Social Studies -Balaban

  • Explain what a tiny house is:

A house that does not have unuseful space\ a spent space.

Like the space was used efficiently and nothing was lacking.

  • Provide two reasons why tiny homes are becoming more popular Include the advantages and disadvantages of tiny homes.

Tiny homes are less expensive to build and maintain, provide mobility when built on a trailer, and yield a reduced environmental impact.

  • Explaining the connection between tiny homes and sustainable living .What are greenhouse gasses? How can tiny homes help combat the amount of greenhouse gasses released into the environment?

Many tiny home builders are using sustainable materials and methods, making them a more eco-friendly housing choice.Greenhouse gasses  are gasses in the earth’s atmosphere that trap heat.

  • Carbon footprint

What is a carbon footprint?

A carbon footprint is the total amount of greenhouse gasses (including carbon dioxide and methane) that are generated by our actions.

How is a carbon footprint calculated?

It is calculated by summing the emissions resulting from every stage of a product or service’s lifetime

  • Resource selection description

Why did you select the resources that you did?

  • I chose the resources that I did for many reasons but the meanest one was that I just found it the best for the environment or and also just looked good in the tiny house.

  • How do your resources promote sustainable living?
  • I’m using things that need less electricity and just better for the environment which is a big plus.

  • Design elements (Document via images and insert from the work you have done in math class)
  1. Floor plan
  2. One-point perspective
  3. Budget

Math calculations

  • Reflection

What surprised you throughout the various components of this project?

I was surprised when I found out how much impact on the environment tiny houses have, or even houses in general.

  • What questions do you have moving forward concerning sustainable living? (Brainstorm a minimum of two questions)
  • So first, I would like to know, what is the most dangerous structure, and way?
  • Secondly, I’m interested to know the amount of the best structure.

  • Reflect on your thinking, learning, and work throughout this project. What were you most proud of?
  • The part that I was most proud of was the math part. Sometimes it was hard and others just fun and challenges, but I did it, and I’m very proud of it.

  • If you were doing this project again, what changes would you make? How could you improve your project?
  • I guess just focusing even more, from the beginning till the end and to do it without letting friends detract my work .How would I improve my way?, again just let yourself think and give yourself more credit.

  • Where did you encounter struggle today, and what did you do to deal with it?
  • It was hard to find the right space for everything , like rooms and tv and anything else.I deal with it when I found the mini size of almost everything that I were looking for, and the other part of my list I cut off if I couldn’t find a better option or the same thing just in a mini size.

  • This term in Social Studies we have been studying sustainability and climate change. Our teachers asked us to research tiny homes and analyze their impact on the environment.

So,what a tiny house is? .

  •  tiny  home  without wasted or unnecessary space.

Like everything was there and the space was used effectively.

When placed on a trailer, tiny homes offer mobility, lower construction and    maintenance costs, and less environmental effect.

  • Tiny homes are a more environmentally responsible option for dwelling because so many builders are utilizing sustainable materials and construction techniques. The gasses that trap heat in the earth’s atmosphere are known as greenhouse gases. The entire amount of greenhouse gasses, such as carbon dioxide and methane, produced by human activity is known as a carbon footprint.

  • It is computed by adding up all of the emissions that come from each phase of a good or service’s life.
  • If I would do this project again I would change the way I did my homework, Like world in class, like less talking maybe.

Balaban-Innovation Day Reflection

For this innovation day,I choose to talk about pigs farms.

Before I started the innovation project I thought it would be very interesting, I was right. I really liked the project with the cospaces, I think I enjoyed this part the most. I was a  little nervous  from the judges’ part, but during the actual time it was way better than I thought it would be.

I think I did a really good job at the board and on the way I picked the colors ,also I believe I could better pay more attention to the small details. Next time I will  do my research differently, maybe to start it sooner or something else I haven’t thought about yet.

Overall I’m really proud of my work even though I didn’t win ,I know I did my best.
